Make it personal
There are a few constant factors that journalists use to determine if a story is newsworthy. They are proximity, impact or consequences, novelty or rarity, conflict, human interest, prominence. Use any one or a combination of these factors to create storylines that inspire the media to bring your cause more prominence. Make stories personal to show how what you do impacts the lives of individuals. Demonstrate that the challenge is enormous but that you have solutions that make a real difference. View the content you are creating for your media centre through the prism of the media.

The Technical University of Denmark has been running an ongoing survey of the average person's attention span. Currently, it is sitting at eight seconds and dropping. The reason given is the abundance of information we are presented with each day. The media are aware of this and look for visual content that helps capture the readers' or viewers' attention. Your Lookatmedia™ centre is designed to provide them with this content and help you move the issues you want to talk about to the top of the list.
